So you think you know what to expect when you come to Tough Mudder? Think again. At Tough Mudder London North we dropped a brand new, never-before-seen obstacle into the mix and because it made such a big…splash we took it to Tough Mudder Yorkshire.
Mudders…meet Hydrophobia.
What the heck is Hydrophobia?
Hydrophobia is defined as an extreme or irrational fear of water and is a particularly fitting name for an obstacle that challenges one of our most primal phobias.
The obstacle is a 3 foot deep pit of water, which is around 12m long and 6m wide and contains 3 huge pipes.
No you won’t be crawling through them, instead you’ll have to take a deep breath and fully submerge yourself in the water to move underneath each pipe.
How to Tackle Hydrophobia
The key to this obstacle, as with overcoming any fear, is to remain calm and face it head on.
Yes, it’s claustrophobic and yes you may feel panic rising but swift, smooth movements will see you under the pipe and out into the air in no time at all.
