When is Black Friday?
This year it falls on Friday, 26th November. The day first originated in the USA, because Thanksgiving always falls on the fourth Thursday in November, and the following Friday is often observed as an unofficial holiday.
Why is it called Black Friday?
The term was first used in September in the 1950s, Philadelphia police used the term to refer to the day between Thanksgiving and the Army-Navy game. Huge crowds of shoppers and tourists went to the city that Friday, and cops had to work long hours to cover the crowds and traffic.
